Due to the ongoing dry weather conditions, Felixstowe Town Council is adjusting its watering schedules to ensure the town’s popular Felixstowe in Flower hanging baskets and floral displays are maintained as responsibly and sustainably as possible.
The Council’s Grounds Team works in close partnership with Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club, which generously provides sustainably sourced water to help keep the town looking vibrant throughout the summer months.
The Council extends its sincere thanks to the Golf Club management and team for their invaluable, ongoing support, which is vital to the success of the annual displays.
With local water resources under pressure, the Town Council’s Grounds Team is adopting a targeted, prioritised watering route to conserve supplies while giving care to the displays that need it most.
The Mayor of Felixstowe, Cllr Darren Aitchison, said:
“We know how much residents and visitors enjoy the Felixstowe in Flower displays, and our Grounds Team is working hard to keep them looking their best. However, during periods of extreme dry weather, we must balance keeping the flowers healthy with a responsible, measured approach to resource management. By prioritising key areas and continuing to work closely with our partners at the Golf Club, we are ensuring every drop is used as effectively as possible.”
Whilst every effort will be made to preserve the condition of the baskets, the public may notice a slight variation in appearance during this peak dry spell. The Council will keep the situation under regular review and looks forward to resuming normal schedules as weather conditions allow.
