JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Suffolk Police and Crime Panel, Ipswich IP1 2BX

  • Fixed term for four years

Do you have an independent mindset? Are you interested in reducing crime and anti-social behaviour? If so, we need you.

The Suffolk Police and Crime Panel is looking for a committed, motivated person from Suffolk to help scrutinise and support the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC).  The PCC has responsibility for setting the direction of policing in Suffolk and holding the Suffolk police force to account, whilst the panel provides independent and constructive challenge to support the PCC.

Membership of the panel is an interesting role, and together panel members reflect the breadth of communities in Suffolk, with elected members representing local authorities across Suffolk working alongside two people who are co-opted.

The panel is looking for an independent co-opted member to join who has a track record in community involvement, can represent a diverse cross-section of public views and concerns, and has a keen interest in policing, crime prevention, victim support, community safety and the criminal justice system.

The time commitment would be, on average, one day a month. Travel and subsistence expenses will be paid, as well as an allowance for your time. Training will be provided to help you carry out your role.
