Felixstowe’s South Seafront has once again been recognised for its outstanding quality after receiving the prestigious Blue Flag Award for 2026 – marking the seventh consecutive year the town’s popular coastline has achieved the internationally recognised accolade.

The Blue Flag Award is presented annually to beaches that meet rigorous standards relating to water quality, environmental management, safety, cleanliness and visitor facilities. Achieving the award for a seventh successive year highlights Felixstowe’s continued commitment to maintaining a high-quality coastal environment for residents and visitors alike.

The Mayor of Felixstowe said:

Receiving the Blue Flag Award for Felixstowe’s South Seafront for the seventh consecutive year is a tremendous achievement and something our whole community can be incredibly proud of.

This internationally recognised award reflects the consistently high standards maintained across our seafront – from water quality and environmental management to safety, cleanliness and visitor facilities.

This success is only possible thanks to the dedication and hard work of so many people, including East Suffolk Council, our partners, local businesses, community groups, volunteers and residents who all play a part in caring for our coastline and helping Felixstowe remain one of the country’s finest seaside destinations.

The award recognises the ongoing efforts made to protect and enhance Felixstowe’s coastline while ensuring the seafront remains an attractive, safe and welcoming destination throughout the year.
