The Mayor of Felixstowe, Cllr Darren Aitchison, raised the Fairtrade Flag in the Town Hall Gardens on 21 September to mark Fairtrade Fortnight.
The Mayor was joined by fellow Councillors and members of the Felixstowe Fairtrade Forum for the flag-raising, celebrating Felixstowe’s longstanding commitment to Fairtrade.
Felixstowe has been recognised as a Fairtrade Town since 2009. Speaking at the event, the Mayor said:
“Felixstowe has been certified as a Fairtrade Town since 2009. That status isn’t just a label; it reflects years of hard work from our churches, our schools, our local businesses, and, of course, the Town Council. Together, we’ve built a partnership that puts ethical values at the heart of our community.”
The Mayor also thanked everyone who continues to support Fairtrade in Felixstowe, including volunteers, local supporters and those who champion Fairtrade values year after year.
The flag-raising provided an opportunity to celebrate the contribution of the Felixstowe Fairtrade Forum and the wider community in keeping Fairtrade at the heart of the town.
