On Wednesday 31 January the town will mark the anniversary of the 1953 floods in Felixstowe – the largest peacetime disaster in the region, in which 41 people lost their lives.
To commemorate the anniversary there will be a short service at 10am at the Memorial on Langer Road conducted by The Parish of Felixstowe and the Town Council. All are welcome to join.
The Felixstowe Flood Memorial was built in Langer Road to ensure that the events of 1953 would never be forgotten. Work was undertaken by Felixstowe Town Council to refurbish elements of the Flood Memorial for the 70th Anniversary last year. This work included refurbishment of the memorial bench, and renewed planting.
