Ever wondered what lies behind the doors of Felixstowe Town Hall? This Heritage Open Days, residents and visitors have a special opportunity to step inside one of Felixstowe’s most historic civic buildings and discover more about its fascinating past.
On Sunday 20 September, Felixstowe Town Hall will open its doors for a series of guided tours, with visitors welcomed by the Mayor of Felixstowe, Cllr Darren Aitchison, or Deputy Mayor, Cllr David Rowe.
The Town Hall has been at the heart of civic life in Felixstowe for more than 130 years and has witnessed some fascinating moments in the town’s history. Its connections include the Schneider Trophy, RAF Felixstowe, and the 1914 trial of two suffragettes accused of burning down the Bath Hotel.
The guided tours provide an opportunity to see parts of the building and hear more about its history, as well as its continuing role as the home of Felixstowe Town Council and the town’s civic centre.
Tours will take place at:
- 10.15am
- 11am
- 12 noon
- 2pm
- 3pm
Each tour lasts approximately 40 minutes and pre-booking is required. The Town Hall has two sets of stairs to the upper floor, with a stairlift available for those with mobility difficulties.
Places are limited, so early booking is recommended.
