The seaside town of Felixstowe in Suffolk is a unique, exciting and diverse location for photographic opportunities – seaside fun, beautiful gardens, huge container ships, historic buildings and rich wildlife habitats.
The Felixstowe Photo Competition, organised and supported by Visit Felixstowe, Felixstowe Town Council and the Landguard Partnership, allows both professional and amateur photographers alike to capture and share their favourite scenes of the town. The competition has attracted just under 100 entries from all ages (9 to 81 years) – over three different themes: Architecture, Seashore and Young Photographer.
From today – Monday 20 September – members of the public are being invited to choose their favourites with an online vote at the Visit Felixstowe website – www.visitfelixstowe.org.uk
The four top photographs from both the Architecture and Seashore themes, together with the Young Photographer images will then go forward to a panel of judges who will then pick the overall “Judges Choice” winner. The overall winner will win a cash prize of £100, plus a framed copy of their picture. Voting closes at 12pm on Monday 4 October.
A spokesperson from Felixstowe Town Council said: “Thank you to everyone that took part. We are delighted that the competition attracted such a wide range of entries and it will be intriguing to find out what the public choose as their favourite images of Felixstowe”.
Helen Greengrass, Felixstowe Forward Change Director said: “I can’t wait to see the winning photographs. This is a real opportunity for Felixstowe to showcase why it is such a loved seaside town with so much to offer visitors”.
Paul Grant, Landguard Project Officer said: “Fantastic pictures that really capture the essence of Felixstowe. It will be really hard to pick a winner!”.
