East Suffolk Council are consulting on the draft Felixstowe conservation area appraisal, with comments welcomed by Monday, 4th November 2019 by post to East Suffolk House, Station Road, Melton, Woodbridge IP12 1RT or via email to conservation@eastsuffolk.gov.uk. The appraisal will replace the existing one which dates from 1999.

The appraisal is also available to view on line at the following address:

The purpose of a conservation area appraisal is to define what makes it special: its buildings, streets, spaces, trees and tree groups, uses, setting, topography, historic features and such like, which all combine to provide its character. In doing so the appraisal will provide an important tool in managing the future appearance and development of the conservation area and that is why public views on it are very welcome.

All comments received will be taken into account and duly considered before East Suffolk Council adopts the revised appraisal.

East Suffolk Council is not reviewing the boundary of the conservation area as part of this exercise but suggestions for changes that can be taken into account when a review is undertaken in the future are included in the appraisal.

East Suffolk Council has also written directly to all occupiers within the conservation area to seek their views.
