Suffolk Coastal is asking people to keep off a small section of the beach at Felixstowe, following coastal erosion.
The recent adverse weather conditions have swept away a large proportion of the beach on the seafront immediately in front of the Spa Pavilion building, leaving a steep drop from the normal beach level to the sea.
Local people have reported the situation to the council, highlighting the potential danger to people using this section of the beach. As such, Suffolk Coastal has arranged for signs to be put up, warning people not to use the beach.
It is hoped that the beach may naturally rebuild in the coming weeks. During this time, the council will continue to monitor the situation in order to assess whether further action needs to be taken.
The owners of beach huts in this section of the seafront have been informed about the situation and been advised not to use their beach huts at this time.
