Thank you to everyone who responded to the Town Council’s call to ‘Clean for the Queen’ in March and April this year. The local community has once again done Felixstowe proud and helped to make a real difference in the town.
The initiative began on Saturday 5th March 2016 when the Mayor of Felixstowe together with a team of Councillors, volunteers and representatives from Felixstowe Sea Cadets, spent the morning clearing a large amount of litter and detritus from the alley between the Library to Hamilton Road.
On the same day, joining hundreds of other teams across the country, ten members of the Felixstowe Landguard Rotary Club together with two guests cleaned the beach and adjacent area from the Deben entrance to the steps by Gulpher Road. Over 30 kgs of rubbish was collected.
Felixstowe Beach Huts and Chalets Association carried out a litter pick on the beach and promenade in the vicinity of the pier on the morning of Sunday 3rd April.
On April 21st and 22nd around a dozen residents of St. George’s Road cleaned and tidied the verges in the road and in the footpath between Western Ave and St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church.
The Inner Wheel Club of Felixstowe Cleaned for the Queen in Victoria Street.
Felixstowe Lions took part too, collecting litter off of Felixstowe seafront on Saturday the 23rd April, filling up plenty of black sacks.
Well done to everyone who put in their time and effort to spring clean our local communities.
We would love to hear from any others who also took part so please let us know!
