Mayor of Felixstowe Announces Total Raised for Charities at Annual Town Meeting

At Felixstowe Town Council’s Annual Town Meeting, hosted on 8 May 2024 at Felixstowe School, the Mayor of Felixstowe, Cllr Seamus Bennett, announced that a total of £27,395 had been raised – to date – for his four chosen charities. The Mayor of Felixstowe chose to support four Felixstowe-local charities throughout his tenure, Felixstowe NCI, Felixstowe Coast Patrol and Rescue, Boost Felixstowe Youth Group and Pushchair Pitstop.

Pushchair Pitstop is a donation-based service, located in St John’s Church in Felixstowe, providing clothes, toys and other essential household items to young families in need. Felixstowe Coast Patrol and Rescue is Felixstowe’s independent lifeboat charity and has been performing local rescues since 1977. Felixstowe NCI operates from Martello Tower P on the South Seafront of Felixstowe and undertake essential work to monitor the safety of the those along Felixstowe’s coastline. BOOST Felixstowe offers bereavement and counselling support to students at Felixstowe School.

Across the year, the Mayor of Felixstowe hosted a number of fundraising events, organised alongside the charities, including a fashion show, a curry night, a concert, a boat pull, a quiz night, a sea shanty evening, a sponsored bike ride from St David’s in Wales to Felixstowe, raising £7,500, a “Kid’s Ball”, and the Mayor’s annual Ball, hosted at Harvest House.

All money raised will be distributed between the four charities, and will support their future endeavours in the Felixstowe community, offering essential services to local residents.
