Additional information

I was born, raised and schooled in Felixstowe. As well as loving my hometown, I’ve always had a broad, international outlook, which brought a varied career, first in education, teaching English in Eastern Europe, then in international development, as Country Director for VSO in Central Asia. 

 

I returned to Felixstowe in 2008 with two young sons who have thrived in the town, just as I did. In 2012 I set up Felixstowe Swimscapes sea swimming group, which attracts growing numbers of swimmers, from near and far and of all ages and abilities, to our great stretch of coastline. Now self-employed, I am delighted to be able to make a living as one of fewer than 20 Swim Smooth certified coaches in the UK. 

 

I believe in openness and inclusivity, getting people together to find common ground and being willing to try new things – respecting tradition, without being bound by it. 

 

I was honoured and excited to be elected to the Town Council in May 2019 by the people of Felixstowe Coastal Ward.
