If you are interested in holding your marriage or civil ceremony at the Town Hall we would love to hear from you.

Planning Your Ceremony

To hold your ceremony at Felixstowe Town Hall, there are two essential steps you must take:

  1. Book the Town Hall (Your Venue): Contact Sue Faversham on 01394 288191 or email sue.faversham@felixstowe.gov.uk to arrange a viewing of the facilities we have available, to reserve your date and time, or for any other enquiries  about weddings at the Town Hall.

  2. Book the Registrars (Legal Requirement): You must also engage the Suffolk Registration Service to perform the ceremony. Without a Registrar, the ceremony cannot legally take place. Please contact them at 0345 607 2050 or ipswich.registrars@suffolk.gov.uk to check their availability for your chosen date.

Legal Notice of Marriage (NOM)

By law, you must both give a formal Notice of Marriage at least 28 days before your ceremony. Please be aware of the different statutory waiting periods that may apply to you:

  • Standard Notice: For British Citizens, there is a minimum statutory waiting period of 28 clear days from the date of your notice.

  • Non-Relevant Nationality: If one or both parties are not British Citizens, the waiting period may be extended to 70 days due to mandatory referral to the Home Office.

  • Urgent Waivers: In exceptional circumstances (usually involving serious health conditions), a formal request can be made to shorten the 28-day period.
