Additional information

Mike has lived in the area for many years; he attended a local school and on leaving school became an apprentice Radio, TV and Audio engineer working for a local business. Later in life Mike was employed at the Port of Felixstowe and until retirement worked there as a Project Analyst.

Having married Anne, they moved to Walton where they have lived ever since.  Mike has two children who both attended local schools and now have four grandchildren.  

Mike has represented his community of Walton since 1983 on Felixstowe Town Council, where he is chair of the Finance and Governance Committee.  He is also a member of the Appeals Committee and Full Council.   Mike represents the Town Council on the following outside bodies: – the Salzwedel Partnership Association, the Felixstowe/Wesel Association and the Felixstowe Ferry Fairways Committee.

Mike has had the great honour of being the Town Mayor on three occasions – 1993/1994, 2008/2009 and 2012/2013.  At the same time as being elected to the Town Council in 1983, Mike was also elected to the District Council which he has served on since.  Initially it was Suffolk Coastal District Council and is now East Suffolk Council where Mike represents Western Felixstowe.   Mike is chair of the District Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee and a member of its Planning Committee.

Mike is currently chair of the Felixstowe Branch of Suffolk Sight and President of the town’s Mencap Association.

Mike relaxes by working out at a local gym, cycling, walking, birdwatching, reading and listening to music.
